Cascade has attracted and trained some of the best drill crews in the industry. Our goal is to make your job easier and to save you time and money. We meet our goal by listening to your needs and by paying strict attention to safety, logistics and the quality of our work. We stress communication, teamwork, and technical skills. Our crews are motivated, enthusiastic, and take pride in their work.

Cascade's preparedness and high productivity reduce on-site time and saves you money. In order to boost productivity, we operate a broad range of well maintained, late model equipment operated by experienced, cooperative crews.

Our drillers are licensed to drill and install wells in the states of Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Arizona, and Idaho. Our personnel are continuously trained on the job and in shop training sessions by our Operations Management and by our senior drillers.

Mud Rotary/Hollow Stem Auger Technical Information

Cascade Drilling, Inc. has converted its late model CME 75 auger rigs to a high torque configuration to obtain 22,000 foot pounds of torque; nearly twice the torque of a Mobile B61. The 75's are capable of drilling to 200' with 8" diameter hole. Several rigs are equipped for angle holes up to 45 degrees off of vertical. The CME 75's are truck mounted with a Nodwell tracked vehicle mounting available for access on soft ground. Additionally, our all terrain CME 75 track rig is capable of remote site access for mud rotary, auger and coring.

Conductor casing up to 9" diameter can be set up to 50 feet deep by using 10" ID x 15" OD augers. Monitoring wells may then be set. The rigs are also equipped with asphalt "cookie cutter"and concrete "bull dog" bits for drilling on developed property.

Our HQ and NQ wireline Triple Tube coring systems with casing advancer ensure efficient and reliable core drilling. The wireline casing advancer also provides an efficient one step method of drilling through overburden and casing off to bedrock.

Air Rotary Technical Information

Cascade Drilling, Inc. has equipped its two late model Ingersoll Rand T3W to be as versatile as possible. The T3W is set up to drill with augers, air rotary and drive casing, or air rotary with ODEX and is operated by a three man crew. Air rotary drilling is ideal for extremely drifficult subsurface conditions such as large cobbles, boulders, and landslide debris where traditional mud rotary or hollow stem auger drilling is not feasible

Drilling deeper holes in unconsolidated formations is accomplished with the drill and drive method. The casing is advanced by an Aardvark hammer which swings out for ease of sampling and well installation. Cascade has 13", 12", 10", and 7" ID threaded casing in 5' and 10' lengths to allow for various sampling intervals. Odex underreamer systems are used when drill and drive is not possible due to large boulders or bedrock.

Other Services

Offshore - Cascade personnel have successfully completed marine sediment sampling and geotechnical projects as well as sampling and installing monitor wells in refinery water containment ponds.

Cascade personnel have extensive experience in performing geophysical logs. Due to the limited demand and highly specialized equipment, Cascade uses subcontractors for the actual logging.

Concrete coring.

Health and Safety trained equipment operators can be provided for backhoe or bulldozer work related to drilling service.

Aquifer testing capabilities include draw down and step test with flow cells and totalizers rated to 300 GPM. Pneumatic packers can be provided to isolate zones.

Cascade owns tracked and four wheel drive equipment for off road projects.

Selected Geotechnical Project Experience

Cascade Drilling Inc. has performed hundreds of projects for foundation and soil investigations. Below is a short list of projects we have performed which required geotechnical drilling services.

GeoEngineers, Gas Pipeline, Oregon

Description: Completion of twenty borings located at eight remote project sites along proposed pipeline.  Both a CME 75 and a 850 ATV track rig were used to gain access to remote drilling locations.  A total of 600' of auger drilling & 450' of HQ-3 rock coring was completed within 10-days.  Project was completed under budget & ahead of schedule with a 3-man crew

Geotechnical Resources, Inc., Clark County Landslide, WA

Description: CME 850 Track Rig was used to drill through landslide debris and install inclinometer casing up to 70' deep. Concurrent with drilling activities, Cascade Drilling provided a bulldozer to bench in a landing for the drill rig. Three inclinometers and four observation standpipes were installed. Pneumatic piezometer instrumentation was also installed in all of the completed inclinometers.

SECOR Inter., Inc., Clackamas, OR

Description: Air rotary ODEX drilling to install several Waterloo multilevel groundwater monitoring systems within alluvial gravels. Multilevel systems were used to obtain hydrologic data from various elevations within a single borehole. Complex instrumentation clusters were installed in wells.

David J Newton Assoc., Clackamas County Quarry Sites, OR

Description: Provided rock coring services at three basalt quarry sites in Clackamas County. Highly weathered overburden conditions were encountered. Cascade Drilling used both HQ and NQ wireline triple tube coring systems to ensure high recovery rates. Within competent rock formations, a 10-foot long NQ core barrel was used to provide efficient wireline coring. Project was completed ahead of schedule.

Landau Assoicates,  Sand & Gravel Facility, Oregon

Description: Over-water barge work with limited access drill rig.  Completed sediment sampling in settling ponds to depths of 40 feet.  Cascade used a continuous sampling system with 5-foot long core barrels (3 1/4" ID sampler) to provide sufficient sample volume for sediment analysis.  The continuous sampling system used provided sample orientation & directional trends of fractures in extremely soft soils.

Slope Indictor Inc., Bothell Property, WA

Description: Hollow stem auger drilling through till and debris to install four inclinometers to depths of 60-feet.

Confidential client, Elliot Bay- Barge Drilling

Description: Over-water barge work drilling with hollow stem auger. Completed soil borings to 96-feet depth into bay sediments. Work was completed over 50-feet of open water.
