Sonic Drilling Rigs
USE: Best if your project requires continuous, undisturbed core sampling through any type of geological formation.
Sonic drilling
has so many advantages to recommend. It’s a low-impact technology that is safe and clean. By rotating and vibrating the rod, core barrel, and casing at sonic frequencies a clean borehole is drilled, cored, and cased at one time. A great deal less cuttings are generated, saving time and cleanup. Support equipment includes hydraulic rod spinners, threaded casing from 5” to 12”, support trucks with cranes, water tanks, etc.
Sonic provides the cleanest installations of multi-point (CMT-type) wells where precise-depth installations are critical. Cascade has installed over 100 CMT wells to depths of 300 feet (currently the deepest CMT well installations in the U.S.).
Our sonic rigs have been operating continuously on projects ranging from:
- Small environmental site investigations
- Major monitoring-well installations for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation
- Installation of large thermal remediation systems at Fort Lewis, WA for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
